Point of View Matters

I spend a lot (!!) of time on the ground when I’m photographing at ranches and rodeos. I love the perspective of looking up and using the sky as my background. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you’re at a new location (or even a familiar one). To ground myself, I often start on the ground. I know this point of view will provide me with opportunities for some early successes. Once grounded, I photograph the moment like a film-maker… wide for context, tight for detail, a vertical and horizontal. By mixing up my point of view, I create a mini portfolio of each moment—and lots of options of future paintings.

What’s your point of view?
